Application, age and retest details

Michigan adults aged 18 and over can take the knowledge test online or at a Secretary of State office. The office test is free; the published online convenience fee is $6.50. The online process requires a computer, keyboard, mouse and webcam. Passing results remain valid for one year. Adults then apply for a Temporary Instruction Permit and practice under supervision; the teen graduated-license route is separate. Our practice exam uses 50 questions with an 80% target.
